The program will fund up to 700,000 homes of up to $5,000 to help homeowners make energy efficient retrofits to their homes. As well the program will provide EnerGuide evaluations (worth up to $600) and expert advice to homeowners so they can begin to plan their retrofits. 10% of the overall homes, 70,000 grants, have been put aside specifically for Indigenous community households.

Eligible Community

If you’re applying as an Indigenous government or organization (e.g. band council, land claim organization), a housing management body, or other representative or Indigenous service delivery organization with formal partnerships with Indigenous governments or organizations:

  • You are eligible to register multiple homes.
  • You must own the home(s) or have a formal partnership to represent the owners, but the homes do not need to be the owner’s primary residence.
  • The homes must be occupied by an Indigenous household.
