The program will fund up to 700,000 homes of up to $5,000 to help homeowners make energy efficient retrofits to their homes. As well the program will provide EnerGuide evaluations (worth up to $600) and expert advice to homeowners so they can begin to plan their retrofits. 10% of the overall homes, 70,000 grants, have been put aside specifically for Indigenous community households.

If you’re applying as an Indigenous government or organization (e.g. band council, land claim organization), a housing management body, or other representative or Indigenous service delivery organization with formal partnerships with Indigenous governments or organizations:
- You are eligible to register multiple homes.
- You must own the home(s) or have a formal partnership to represent the owners, but the homes do not need to be the owner’s primary residence.
- The homes must be occupied by an Indigenous household.
