Funding Guide Improvements Launched March 31

Earlier this year, we shared how your valuable feedback from Spring 2025 user testing was shaping improvements to the BC Community Climate Funding Guide. We are pleased to share that these updates are complete and went live on March 31, 2026.

These changes focus on making the Funding Guide easier to use, clearer to navigate, and more intuitive for communities and organizations looking for climate related funding opportunities.

What’s new
Based on user testing and stakeholder input, we focused on a set of practical updates to improve clarity and usability across the site:

• Clearer program status: Funding program status labels have been updated to use plain language terms such as Accepting Applications, Not Accepting Applications, and Closing Soon.

• More informative search results: Funding program search results now display more key information up front, including funding amounts, deadlines, and funder details.

• Improved filters and guidance: Filters and tags are easier to see and interact with. We have also added plain language guidance to explain how filters work.

• Clearer eligibility information: Eligibility details are now more prominent on individual funding program pages, making it quicker and easier to identify who can apply to each program.

• Clearer “Recently added” label: We introduced a new label to help users quickly identify recently added funding programs.

• Better placement of the Funding Finder tool: The Funding Finder tool has been repositioned on the homepage to improve visibility and make it easier to access.

• Plainer language throughout: Content across the homepage, search results, and funding program pages has been simplified to improve clarity, accessibility, and readability.

Why this matters
These improvements address common pain points identified through user testing and feedback. The result is a more intuitive and efficient experience that helps users spend less time navigating the site and more time finding funding opportunities that match their needs.

What’s next
We heard additional ideas and suggestions through user feedback, and work is underway to inform future enhancements to the Funding Guide over time.

We encourage you to explore the updates as they go live and to continue sharing your feedback through our Contact Us page.

Thank you again to everyone who participated in testing and improving the Funding Guide for communities across British Columbia.

Sincerely,

The Funding Guide Team
