In western Canada, there are 90 Community Futures (CF) organizations. The CFs are non-profit corporations that take a grassroots approach to community and economic development, and are focused on creating jobs and economic opportunities outside of major urban centres. The CFs offer services to rural entrepreneurs and communities ranging from strategic economic planning, technical and advisory services to businesses, loans to small- and medium-sized businesses (of up to $150,000), and self-employment assistance programs. This is a national program delivered by the Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) in their respective region.
