The Canada Community Building Fund (formerly the Gas Tax Fund) provides predictable, stable and long-term funding to all local governments in BC for investment in infrastructure and capacity building projects. The fund is delivered through three program streams: Community Works Fund; Strategic Priorities Fund; and Greater Vancouver Regional Fund.
The Community Works Fund provides funding for local governments in BC toward eligible investment categories including local roads, bridges, and active transportation; drinking water; wastewater and stormwater; community energy systems; public transit, solid waste; recreation & sport infrastructure; cultural infrastructure; tourism infrastructure; resilience, broadband connectivity; brownfield redevelopment; regional and local airports; short-line rail; short-sea shipping; fire halls and trucks; and capacity building.
